Alexander Proekt
Dr. Alexander Proekt is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. He received his BS in biology and chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University, and graduated from the MD-PhD program at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine with Klaude Weiss as his PhD advisor. He completed his anesthesiology residency training at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by postdoctoral fellowships in neuroscience with Prof. Donald Pfaff at Rockefeller University and in physics with Marcello Magnasco at Rockefeller University.
Dr. Proekt’s lab studies neuronal mechanisms of loss and recovery of consciousness using a combination of neurophysiological and computational methods.
